More from Terry
My daughter is an amazing person. After having three children, she and her husband felt God calling them to do more for children without parents. They fostered eleven children. But one year, they were asked to foster a newborn infant whose mother was no longer able to care for any of her children due to drug addiction. It was not that the child was rejected by his mother but that she could not care for him. My daughter brought him home from the hospital at the age of three days while he was having withdrawal symptoms from meth. After a few months, they decided to adopt the child. The process took a while because, for a short time, the child was allowed to return to his birth mother. He now lives with my daughter’s family, and he is an absolute delight and a great addition to the household. Charlotte McMaster and The Messenger Angel is dedicated to my daughter. It is a middle-grade reader about a middle school girl who, while wrestling with the question of being adopted and being rejected by her birth mother, meets a fascinating elderly lady. The vision of an angel provides help and guidance as this young girl comes to realize her adoptive parents were selected for her by God. This story conveys themes of healing, hope, and spiritual discovery. Through the character of Charlotte McMaster, the novel explores how a young girl, navigating the challenges of family tension and personal identity, seeks guidance from earthly and Heavenly sources. The elderly Mrs. Abigail Hooper tells Charlotte about her own experience with an angel. This introduces Charlotte to the idea of divine presence, sparking her curiosity about her past and adoption.Interview with the Author
- Do you read books in this genre? If so, who do you like to read?
I have read a variety of genres and right now, since I want to write some cozy mysteries in the future, I am reading some true crime books and lots of John Grisham.
- If a reader were to ask you what author you are like, what would you answer?
I am not sure I could answer that. There are several I would like to be like, anyone from Dickens and Hemingway to Grisham.
- What helps you to write? Do you eat snacks, listen to music?
I leave the tv on low on a series I have already watched (so I won’t be distracted by it) or a movie I have seen.
- If you could travel back in time, what time would you go to?
Maybe back to the WWII era. So much drama as the entire world was at war fighting evil. Lots of love stories, heroes, etc.
- What is your favorite book and why?
Favorite of course is the Bible. Never run out of life lessons, stories, and inspiration.
- What is your favorite hymn and why?
So many favorites. Probably “How Great Thou Art.”
- What is one thing readers would be surprised to learn about you?
As a child in school, I always had “talks too much” checked on my report card. I am now considered quiet and shy by most people…but my mind is going 100 miles an hour!
- What inspired you to write this book?
This book was inspired by my daughter who fostered eleven children and adopted a little boy. He now lives with her family and her own older children love him like crazy. Since adoption is the main focus of the book, she inspired me through her own actions.
- Share with me a few of your favorite things.
Taking pictures and posting on social media with Bible verses. Trying to capture a good shot on a morning walk, it is very inspirational to see all of God’s handiwork.
- What is one question you would like readers to ask you? What would be your answer?
If asked, “What have you learned through life?” I would say, “life is way too short, be with your loved ones as much as you can.”
