About the Book Book:  Faces of Courage Author: Susan K. Beatty Genre: Christian Woman’s Fiction Release date: May 11, 2021 Fear strangles even the faithful sometimes. Despite every attempt to be brave, fear has defined Olivia Stanford’s life: with each new foster home, when her adopted parents died leaving her all alone again, trusting and marrying her husband, Frank, and coping with his football injuries and career loss. Without faith, fear only grows in the face of adversity. When Frank becomes abusive, Olivia enters a terror-filled life in her upscale Southern California home. Common sense demands she dig deep for the courage to confront him–to demand change. Fear and confusion push back. And just as courage finally blooms within her comes the terrifying diagnosis: breast cancer. Some say courage is found at the intersection of faith and grit. How will Olivia manage to summon either in the midst of this new battle?

Book Excerpt She used to take comfort in the large, comfortable chairs, the well-stocked bookcases, and the stone fireplace in the family room. Now, she willed the lingering aroma of coffee, the smoky scent of cooling ashes in the living room fireplace, and the soft tick-tock of the family room clock to wrap around her, to envelope her in peace. “Olivia!” So much for peace. Why were their church friends suddenly hypocrites to Frank? She shook her head. “Checking on Zoe and Dylan. Be right there.” Olivia padded into Dylan’s room. King raised his head from where he sprawled his ungainly body across the throw rug next to Dylan’s bed. Satisfied she wasn’t an intruder, he closed his eyes. Her five-year-old lay spread-eagle across his race car bed, the matching bedding bunched underneath him. She stepped around King and moved Dylan enough to get the blanket over him. She kissed his cheek. In the next room, Zoe’s favorite Amish country hearts quilt lay without wrinkle across the bed, the top edges folded by her cheek, the sides draping in precise folds. Only the small telltale mound that was the sleeping seven-year-old disturbed the flat neatness of the bed. Missed Any Excerpts, Go Here:
