More from Jodie

It’s been such a joy to set a series in the town where I graduated from college almost 40 years ago. I’m so thankful my husband suggested it, as it’s been a lot of fun digging into the history of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, and the surrounding area during the 19th century. Before this series, all my other books had settings in the Mid-west—Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. When I started writing the first book, Abigail’s Pursuit, quite a number of years ago, I never intended to create a series about prodigals, let alone experience the pain of it in my life… but God knew what the future held. While each of the books in this Time to Come Home Series revolves around the common theme of a prodigal, each of the tales is a stand-alone. My prayer is for those who have children who have wandered away, or perhaps were once prodigals themselves, or even others who enjoy Christian historical romance with strong spiritual themes—that each of these groups find encouragement through reading this series. Hannah’s Quest was exciting to write as I incorporated information about one of the oldest continually run hardware stores in PA that is still operating to this day, even though it’s changed names various times through the years. I hope you’ll enjoy stepping back in time to a small town in south-central PA where faith and family are celebrated.

Interview with the Author

Do you read books in this genre? If so, who do you like to read?

I definitely read Christian historical romance, which is also what I write. Some of my favorite authors are Mary Connealy, Jen Turano, and Karen Witemeyer.

What helps you to write? Do you eat snacks, listen to music?

I usually have our local Christian radio station playing in the background. If it’s before, during, or after Christmas, I’ll be playing songs of the season. I don’t tend to snack a lot, other than some macadamia nuts. As for beverage, water or tea (hot or cold depending upon the time of year).

What is one thing readers would be surprised to learn about you?

I really like watching action/adventure movies with super heroes or a good science fiction video. I don’t ever read these stories, but enjoy the escape provided from this type of genre. 😊

What inspired you to write this book?

Hannah’s Quest is book 2 in my Time to Come Home Series. I knew that I wanted to feature a hardware shop in Shippensburg, PA that has been continuously run since the mid-1800s. I also had read about a local fire that happened back then and figured it would be something I could use in my story as well. Of course, this book along with the others in the series will feature the common theme of prodigals.

Share with me a few of your favorite things.

Some of my favorite things is spending time with my husband, reading, walking, or knitting.
