While she currently resides in Oklahoma City, she’s lived all over the US, a few years in the UK, and loves to travel. Hidden Legacy was birthed from a story I read about a woman living in North Korea who buried her Bible in her garden. In the dead of night, when her family slept, she would carefully dig it up, brush off the soil, and read by the faint glow of moonlight—knowing discovery could mean imprisonment, torture, or death for her entire household. Her courage reminds me that God’s Word is not just comforting; in places like North Korea, it is life itself. This harrowing story, and others like the North Korean believers, sheds light on how often I take for granted the freedom I enjoy. Here in my home, multiple Bibles rest openly on shelves—different translations, study editions, even large-print versions I can read without fear. I flip through them casually during quiet times and discuss them freely with family and friends. Yet for our brothers and sisters in North Korea, a single page of Scripture is a priceless treasure worth risking everything for. My deepest hope is that Hidden Legacy would stir readers to learn more about our brothers and sisters in Christ living in hostile locations. Just like 1 Corinthians 12 states, we are all part of one body: “If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.” (1 Corinthians 12:26 ESV) But not only to learn about their plight — I hope it also moves us to pray. Pray fervently for Bibles to reach believers through every possible channel in these hostile regions. Pray for God to protect and strengthen the underground church. Interview with the Author

How do you handle moments when inspiration seems hard to find?

I dive into some other form of creating. I love to dabble in painting, or coloring, or even trying a new form of craft. If I find that a story just isn’t coming, I go try another medium. Every time I’ve done this, a spark for the story I’m working on bubbles to the surface.

What’s one writing rule you believe in and one you think is made to be broken?

I believe in the Happily Ever After for romance rule. If I’m reading a romance or watching a romantic movie, I need to know beforehand if there is an HEA or I just can’t get invested in the characters or the story.

As far as a rule to be broken, there was a funny saying going around the first writer’s conference I attended: don’t start a story with “It was a dark and stormy night”. I didn’t know that was thing. I actually love that intro, so I’m really looking forward to finding a story I can start that way. Maybe as just a little nod to the rule I think is okay to break.

How has writing this book changed you?

This was the first story I wrote on a deadline. The other two were written before I started pitching. I’m a Pantser, so this story gave me confidence in how to manage my time as a writer. Word counts and deadlines can be a little scary, but I worked out different checkpoints to hit with this story and was pleasantly surprised when the end result birthed Hidden Legacy.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I love to read and wander antique stores. Browsing through yesteryear always has a calming effect on me, sparks creativity and revives my story ideas.

What are you working on next?

I’m working on a novella, a romantic mystery, with traces of comedy. It’s been like testing a new muscle to try and write a story almost a fourth of the size of a full-length novel.

Is there a genre or format you haven’t tried yet but would like to?

I have a medieval suspense swimming around in my head. I’d love to write it someday. It would actually be the prequel to the H & G Mystery series.

What is your favorite part of being a writer?

Meeting other creatives and finding a community through this art. I also love talking to readers. What privilege and blessing it is to discuss with someone about a story you wrote and hear what they took from it.
