- Do you read books in this genre? If so, who do you like to read?
I love reading romance books. Gabrielle Meyer is one of my favorites at the moment.
- If a reader were to ask you what author you are like, what would you answer?
The author I hope I’m most like is Louisa May Alcott. She wove so many details into the characters she created and made them come to life.
- What helps you to write? Do you eat snacks, listen to music?
Many things help me to write. Prayer, quiet, coffee, and chocolate top the list.
- If you could travel back in time, what time period would you go to?
Ooh, good question! I love our current time, but I’d probably travel back to the late 1940s. America had just won the war, and our country’s optimism and innovations were at an all-time high.
- What is your favorite book and why?
My favorite book is the Bible. I love reading God’s promises, His faithfulness and love for us. I love that He’s given us a road map that has never been disproven.
- What is your favorite hymn and why?
At the risk of sounding totally cliché, my favorite hymn has and always will be “Amazing Grace.” It’s impossible for me to sing those words and not feel a profound sense of awe for God’s redeeming love.
- What is one thing readers would be surprised to learn about you?
Readers might be surprised to learn the number of careers I had before becoming an author. From the time I could hold a pencil, I wrote stories. But I was discouraged from choosing it as a career because, back in the day, most authors couldn’t support themselves. I became a medical transcriptionist, owned/sold a décor store, became a childbirth education/lactation consultant, and finally got back to my first love – writing.
- What inspired you to write this book?
This book is totally inspired by the Christmas story – God’s gift to us. We give gifts because of God’s gift to us. Jesus. In this book, Sadie gifts her cabin to her niece, Brooke. The gift comes at a time when Brooke is totally broken and desperate, and completely alters her life.
- Share with me a few of your favorite things.
A few of my favorite things are: Jesus; my hubby; our children and grandchildren; our “Newfie” (100+ lb. Newfoundland-Poodle mix) Tucker; writing time; friends; long walks; the beach; good food; coffee; cooking.
- What is one question you would like readers to ask you? What would be your answer?
I’d like readers to ask if I see a theme in the stories I write and what is that theme?
Yes, I do see a theme in my stories and it is the love, forgiveness, and redemptive power of God. I haven’t always walked fervently with the Lord, and yet I enjoy His love, and forgiveness because of His redeeming power.
