Are you disappointed with life?
The Bible Companion Book 7 helps you reconcile the realities of life with the promises of God. A simple one-chapter-a-day format lets you engage with Scriptures without the pressure of schedules, homework, or heavy reading loads. Short daily readings and thought-provoking questions connect your story to God’s Word. For personal, group, or homeschool Bible study.
In the Books of Wisdom, God speaks to us in poetry—the language of the heart. These books reveal a God concerned not only about our minds and bodies, but also our emotions. Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs bridge the gap between life as we hoped it would be and life as it is. If you struggle with your life’s circumstances, The Bible Companion Book 7 will help you find guidance, comfort, and strength in the poetry of men and women who searched for God in the dark and found Him.
Excerpt from the Book
“The fear of the Lord” anchors the book (Prov. 1:1–7). Fearing God means humbling ourselves and acknowledging He has the right to determine what is right or wrong. Those who choose the path of wisdom commit to values rooted in the character of God and His law. This chapter tells us wisdom comes from God and is a skill we can learn by reading His Word and listening to those who follow His ways (vv. 7–8). The bottom line? Living wisely leads toward life (vv. 32–33).
The path,7 which appears first in verse 19, becomes the lens through which we view the whole book. Wisdom is associated with godliness, folly with wickedness. In the many scenarios described in Proverbs, we have the opportunity to choose between the two. Verse 20 introduces Woman Wisdom. We find her in the main streets, in the public square, and in the city gate. In other words, wisdom may be found wherever life is lived.
We don’t have to go to exotic places to find God. Nor must we be rich or healthy, clever or smart to encounter Him. He meets us in the joys and pain of life—in the birth of a child, the loss of a loved one, the beauty of nature, and in our ordinary daily activities.
