Consuelo Zamora has been serving as a missionary nurse, but her work has led her to be forced to work with some South American drug lords in order to provide medicine for the common people. After being rescued by Sam and his Home Team, Consuelo settles into a new position in Olympia, Washington, to work with a community center there. But somehow, trouble always follows her, and Sam Anthem seems to always be nearby to save the day. When Sam is forced on a two-month vacation, he is introduced to a former covert ops soldier-turned pastor. But the vacation takes a turn when the Home Team comes under attack. As the team fights to stay alive against an unknown adversary, Sam begins to wonder if there is more to life than just the job. With his life on the line, Sam must decide between the job or his newfound faith and possible love.

David Baldacci (General Suspense)

Tom Clancy (General Suspense)

Jack Higgins (General Suspense)

Robert Ludlum (General Suspense)

  1. If a reader were to ask you what author you are like, what would you answer?

I hope to model the writing of Linda J. White and Marc Cameron. My writing’s been compared to Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy by my readers. (Their words, not mine. I’m just happy to be in print)

  1. What helps you to write? Do you eat snacks, listen to music?

I like my little office at home, and a chocolate chip from the Fuel So Good coffee shop in Tullahoma, TN and a cup of our home-brew coffee.

  1. If you could travel back in time, what time period would you go to?

Back to the time of the apostles. It would be amazing to see what they saw and to be with Him.

  1. What is your favorite book and why?

Can’t do one. I could do many, but here’s two of my favorites:

The Dragon Riders of Pern, by Ann McCaffery. It’s a fantasy story about people struggling with life’s issues in unique and fascinating ways, where heroic spirit triumphs.

John Carter of Mars, by Edgar Rice Burrows. I read this so long ago and have reread it many times since. It was the first book to open my imagination to a virtually limitless horizon of fantastic adventures. It became a beacon for orienting the portion of my life that yearned for adventure.

  1. What is your favorite hymn and why?

Amazing Grace, performed by Celtic Women. It speaks to God’s great message, and what he will give us if we can open our eyes to see, our ears to hear, our mind to understand, and our hearts to feel His love.

  1. What is one thing readers would be surprised to learn about you?

I love a quiet, rainy day by the fireplace with a cup of coffee or tea and a good book.

  1. What inspired you to write this book?

My wife of thirteen years cracked my shell, enabling me to relate to and even celebrate my military career. Until then, I seldom talked about any aspect of it, except to the few friends I knew who shared similar experiences.

When I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior a few months before we met, left me with a dilemma: could I reconcile my faith in God, His commandments, with my role as a military officer and warrior? That is the premise of The Home Team.

As much as that relates to my military experiences, I now understand from my readers that most people wrestle with the same issues: reconciling their past with their Faith, what they do for a living with their Faith, and what they think He wants them to be.

  1. Share with me a few of your favorite things.
  • My wife and kids, and grandkids
  • A good read
  • Horses
  • Kids of all ages
  • Hiking in the woods
  • Working out with my martial arts friends – we laugh a lot and have so much fun!
  • My church. I love the First Baptist Church of Manchester, TN.

  1. What is one question you would like readers to ask you? What would be your answer?

Q: Why do you write Christian suspense novels?

A: It’s a pleasant illness that drives me to create a fun, exciting, fast-paced experience for my readers, which delivers His message.
