“I’m having nothing to do with fixing the game at any casino,” I say firmly. “I don’t care who the target is, we’ll have to get to him – or her – in some other way. Those boys in Las Vegas play too rough.” Gina typed on serenely. Which is why I’m standing in the dock today. *** American courts aren’t anything like English courts. Technically, it’s not the dock I’m standing in, it’s a witness box. There isn’t any dock, not as such. But that’s a detail. The IT department’s insistence that I rig the game in Las Vegas turned out the only way it could. I fixed the roulette wheel at the Lucky Eight casino, and the casino bosses caught me in the act. Which is exactly what any sane human being would have expected. If the casino owners get their way, which in this town they usually do, the judge will lock me up and throw away the key.   Chapter 2 You Don’t Know What You’ve Got ’til It’s Gone As anyone with half a brain could have predicted, my glorious Sophia did not take kindly to the idea of spending the summer months in an arid, noisy, desert. “…take Paradise, and put up a parking lot…” is her opinion of Vegas.

About the Author
